Jeff and Ruth

Tim, Kim, and Family on Mission.

Jeff & Ruth (SV Sparrow) met in Inner City Philadelphia and spent their early years of marriage renovating a row house while working with international teams running Street Camps for children. They have raised 6 children and currently reside in Chester, Pa near the Delaware River where they are renovating Sparrow a 35 foot Camper Nicholson that survived the infamous storm during the Fast Net race of 1979 around the British Isles. The biggest refit to date was replacing the original hydraulic motor with a custom built electric motor and installing solar panels in 2022.

When not on the docks Jeff & Ruth are upper school faculty at a local Christian school their youngest sons attend. As a family they’ve explored the Delaware & Chesapeake Bays during school breaks and have done several passages in the Atlantic. As they gain experience they envision using Sparrow for local and/or international disaster relief, transportation & hospitality missions.

As educators Jeff & Ruth delight in sharing knowledge of math and science with the next generation while connecting hearts and souls to the Creator. What better way than to experience His majesty on the seas and waterways! They’ve taken short term trips to South America, Africa & the South Pacific and are looking for ways to use skills developed on Sparrow in remote waterways around the globe.

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.””
