Aaron & Laura

Aaron and Laura Koerner are from Plant City, FL and have three children. Aaron is a professional musician who performed on stage for many years and also has served at many churches as a worship leader. He has a background in sailing and a passion for the ocean and discipleship and has crewed on large sailboats in the Bahamas. Laura is a full-time, homeschooling mom and a part time artist and small business owner.

Aaron and Laura have been living in Elizabeth City and training under Maritime Ministries for the past two years while they refit their 50’ ketch, sailboat, “Selah” and gain maritime experience as a family. The Koerners are now nearing the finishing line of their refit. They plan to live aboard Selah full time and hope to travel south this winter.

Along their journey, they plan to visit many churches, engage with other believers on the water and partner with several maritime focused organizations. Their hope is that through making these trips annually, they will begin to find specific needs they can meet within communities in the Bahamas and in other Caribbean islands. Laura and Aaron feel called to the water, and would love to help equip other families to do fulltime, on the water missions work. Long term, they are considering working amongst unreached people groups living in island communities in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
